**ARCHIVED** 0 - Assignment Day
Location: Mila's Academy Dorm Room
Timeline: MD -3 to Boarding Day
Just another day or two,' thought Toareth.
She had taken up residence in one of the offices in ther infirmary, but the CMO kicked her out. It did not matter that the Cadet Cruise was only days away. Toareth had to relocate and stay in actual quarters. She was given a name, Milasheleis (a.k.a. Mila), and a room number in the female barracks as well as the passcode to the door to let herself in.
Toareth trudged down across the campus, into the building, down the hallway carrying her two duffels and grumbled the entire way. It made no sense to her why she could not stay another couple of days in an office in the infirmary. "It is what it is," she said to herself as she approached the door to her new and very temporary quarters. She spoke the passcode and the door opened.
Stepping in, Toareth smelled something oddly familiar. Someone, most likely her temporary roommate, Mila, was in the lavatory, possibly showering. Toareth went to the vacant bunk and dropped her duffels, not even wanting to unpack since her stay here would be so short. She only hoped Mila would not be too surprised, or react violently, at seeing a newcomer suddenly in the room.
Mila hadn't had a roommate the entire second semester, so she didn't bother getting dressed when she stepped out of shower. Her long black hair was wet, and she was gently towel drying it and humming to herself as she walked to her dresser to put on some undergarments. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a rather skinny looking girl standing next to the empty bunk in her room. Mila jumped a bit, and used the towel to cover the front of her body, holding it with her left arm.
"Who are you?" Mila asked, eyeing the stranger in her room with suspicion.
Toareth turned and the first thing she noticed was not, in fact, the nude woman covering herself with but a towel, it was the verdant coloring of the woman's skin. The smell that Toareth had picked up a moment ago suddenly lit a bulb in her head. She could have sworn her heart stopped beating for the next few seconds and attempted to hop into her throat.
"Orion!" was her only word before she darted to the quarter's personal replicator. "Computer! Medical override, Darqa Lima Seven Theta Omega Five." It took but a second but seemed an eternity for Toareth for the computer to bleep a confirmation. “One vail of loraxipheromone.” The computer returned a nearly disgusted sound indicating error. Already, Toareth could feel an undesirable sensation well within her. “Blast. Computer, one vail of moresexiferatine.” Again there came a sound of error. Toareth reddish eyes reddenned all the more and dilated in the wake of her inhaling the pheromones emanating from the Orion. She held a hand back instinctively as instruction for Mila not to approach. “LORAXIPHERATINE! Computer, one vial of loraxipheratine!”
The replicator spun up and Toareth snatched a hypospray from her pocket as awkwardly as a drug addict suffering from withdrawal would grab at their vehicle of injection. With the hypospray secured in hand and the replicator finishing producing the vial of the medication, Toareth snatched it up, slapped the vial into the hypospray, pressed a few buttons and pressed it against her jugular running up the back of her neck.
Toareth sent a dose forward into her system and, before it had any effect, her palms started sweating, at least they felt cold. She almost started shaking, restraining the desire to run to the Orion female and do unspeakable things to her. But the medication started taking effect and that cold sweat permeating her body and the desire for unspeakable bodily acts waned.
Mila wasn't sure if she should prepare for a fight, run away, or call for medical. Before she had to decide the woman in her quarters seemed to calm down some.
“You would be surprised,” Toar said as she leaned, pressing a hand, against the wall, "the effects female Orion pheromones have on El-Aurians." She pocketed the hypospray and shook her hands violently. "El-Aurians, you might know, have extremely long life spans, very slow metabolisms, can go nearly a week without food, we are empathic not that it matters here, and, for some unknown reason, possess a hypersensitivity to the pheromones of Orion females. In fact,” and Toar was recalling from personal experience, “your pheromones,” she pointed at her, “would affect me as it would most men, just five-fold as you saw. And would affect El-Aurian men similar to most women. They tend to resent you.”
Toareth took a breath and regarded the towelled Orion briefly before sending her eyes away out of respect. "Cadet Toareth Darqa; your new roommate...for the next few days that is."
Mila tucked her hair behind her ear bashfully. Not much embarrassed her, but this entire situation certainly had. "I don't actually walk around manipulating people like that you know. We have some control," she said defensively.
Mila grabbed her lavender scented lotion that also acted as a barrier to the hormones. She tucked herself into the corner in her closet and lathered it on particularly thick. "Everyone calls me Mila," she called from her closet. She didn't resurface for a few minutes, fully dressed now in long pants and a long-sleeved shirt with a high neckline for good measure.
"So, how did you end up here? My dorm I mean? Where were you housed before?" Mila asked. She stood somewhat far away from El-Aurian, not quite sure how to act or where to go.
"Well I just got back to Starfleet from...an assignment. My final Academy credits will be gained from this cruise. And...with the cruise so close to launch I did not go to billetting but took up residence in an office in the infirmay. The CMO kicked me out just a little bit ago. And," Toareth showed her hands defensively, "I am not insinuating that you were manipulating, or have no control. We El-Aurians are hyper-sensitive to Orion pheromones. Hyper. It is no one's fault but nature's. If you prefer," she started back toward the bunk atop which her unpacked duffels rested, "I can get with billetting on different auarters."
Mila sighed. "It's up to you," she shrugged. "I don't want to make you sick or anything. I don't care that you are here, I just don't know what to do." Mila was still keeping distance in the far corner of the room.
"There is no need to keep distance now. I'm...I have taken the medication to counter the effects. So," Toareth gave her an awkward smile, "not getting sick or anything. I would like to stay if you are in agreement. I really do not like dragging my gear all over the place. I will certainly try to keep to my side and not disturb you. Besides, it is just for another day or so while I await the Cadet Cruise. I will be out of your hair then."
Mila took a few steps out into the main room. "Well if it's the Stardancer, I'm assigned to that as well. Are you going to have to take that... all the time?" she asked. "I do wear a lotion," she looked back to her dresser. "I know it's not perfect, but the suppressant makes me feel unwell."
Toareth was not sure if she wanted to be sad or overjoyed. She had always wanted to find a way to study an Orion female up close, but was already afraid to do that all the same. "Yes and no. Yes I will have to take this stuff. And no, not to this dosage," she held up the hypospray. "Much smaller dosages will suffice. I was just...caught off guard a moment ago. This is my own concoction, not the substandard stuff SF Medical came up with. And yes, I will be joining you aboard the Stardancer." Toareth did take step forward, then stopped. She did not want to be too forward. "If the suppressant makes you feel unwell, it could be the stuff Starfleet Medical put out. If you want, that is, if I can study your biology in greater detail, I can probably come up with a suppressant designed for you alone. One that will not make you feel unwell."
"I don't know. I don't think I've caused any problems until now. But if we're on a small ship, and if I'm rooming with someone, I don't know, maybe I should look into it," Mila said thinking out loud, hesitation in her voice. "It's worth thinking about," she decided.
“Worth thinking about, yes,” Toareth nodded. “But do not mislead yourself as you are not the cause of any problems. Let’s just hope we do get rooms, individual rooms, and not some residential corridor like the Lower Decks get.” Toareth finished that thought with a smile, though she did scare even herself with the thought of living Lower Decks style.
"Well, I'm just a freshman. I can't imagine I'll have my own quarters," she said with a shrug. "I guess we'll find out soon enough," she said nonchalantly, seemingly recovered from the drama from earlier.
"That we will," said Toareth. "The Excelsior Class is a fairly large ship. At the very least, you may have a roommate. I am confident you will have quarters at least." Toareth moved one of her duffels out of the way. It shifted and rolled off onto the floor. Toareth sat upon the bed. "What will be your assignment while on the cruise?" she asked.
"Security," Mila responded. "What about you?" she asked.
"I am actually assigned to be the Cadet CMO. All the cadets, coming to me, for their physical well-being." She sighed. "No pressure. I am sure Security may be just as taxing. Do not be surprised if the ranking Starfleet officers joining us pull some pranks, steal some stuff and act troublesome just to see what you will do."
Mila jumped on to her bed. "Ah, no worries about that. I had brothers. I can give it out as well as I take."
