General Announcement

Posted on Mon Oct 9th, 2023 @ 7:58pm by Captain Grace Stark

376 words; about a 2 minute read

Mission: **ARCHIVED** 1 - Cruising through the galaxy
Location: Deck 7 - Club Whisper

Grace stood in the middle of the dancefloor, her red and grey tied up and her uniform hugging her body with the pips of Capt.
flanked by cadets set to collectively work for the first time aboard a ship. Her ship.
flanked by Officers, some she knew, some she did not. Their goal was to service the Cadets and instruct them about caring for an old starship.

"Welcome everyone!" She grandly stated, warmly greeting the sea of young anarchy and old knowledge. "Welcome aboard the USS Stardancer! I am Captain Grace Stark, your captain and I have commanded this ship for nearly 40 years! She might not seem much to you but in her history, she has been a bright light in exploration and defence and now. She is a bright light in knowledge... And believe me, she'll glow!" Trying to make the ship impressive when actually it was falling apart, Grace loved her ship but it needed to be put out of its misery, it would be a mercy killing.

Teaching wasn't something Grace wanted, when she was told about the ship serving the Academy she thought she would be promoted to Commodore and head up a research task force... Oh how wrong she was. Her publicity as a researcher and commander had faded. "You will operate as a crew. A Starfleet Crew. Your teachers are here to review you. Do not make them interview in your duties." Trying to put fear into them, in normal times they would stay behind a year but war was over the horizon and there weren't enough soldiers on the battlefield.

"We will leave the Sol System for the Sakinth system where we will investigate reports of piracy inside the Sakinth asteroid belt." She declared, letting the rumours of 'controlled vs uncontrolled assignments' brew. "We are a family now. Our family is an island of warmth and harmony in a sea of discord." Grace tried inspiring the Cadets but you could see the exhaustion in her, she didn't have enough energy left to serve another tour of duty.

"Thank you." She finished, exiting the dance floor, soft soothing Earth jazz played in the background while the room filled with buzz of chatter about Grace, their mission and themselves.
