Physical Appearance

Physical Description There are not a lot of physical differences between Elasians and Humans, so it's not easy to determine that Dylan is not fully human. His eyes are almond-shaped, and while that does come from his mother's Elasian side, it could have come from another human race.

Those eyes are one of his most distinctive features. They are usually the color of the Aegean Sea on a Summer's day, but their hue shifts depending on his mood.

He is rather slight for an Elasain but he takes after his father in that regard. While not overly tall, even for a human, he is solidly built.

His hair is the color of dark roast coffee beans. It's not overly long, but it does push the boundaries of regulation length. It often falls down onto his forehead and almost to his eyes.

When not in uniform, his go-to clothing choice is scrubs. He has several different pairs in a variety of colors When he leaves for a night out, or a date, he prefers trendy and stylish. When he is just relaxing, or at home, he chooses comfort over fashion.

Personality & Traits

General Overview Dylan tends to leap before he thinks and fix his mistakes along the way rather than sit idly by and wait for things to happen, or come up with contingency plans and escape clauses.

He’s a bit of a risk taker, diving right into the middle of a situation, often becoming the eye of the hurricane.

He has his own moral compass, which mostly points to True
North, but he doesn’t follow the rules very well.

He has a unique ability to notice the smallest changes. Facial expression, body language, a new clothing style, etc.
He doesn’t hesitate to call those things out, or if the shift in facial expression or body language causes him to think a person is lying, he won’t hesitate to let them know, unless he’s trying to be deceptive as well and get them to expose more things.

He is full of passion and energy.

He is gregarious, something of a social butterfly, comfortable in almost any social situation. He is flirtatious with both genders, and he has a reputation as an equal-opportunity rake.

But it is mostly just chatter that he uses to disarm those around him. He is careful unless he is purposely trying to antagonize someone to gain an advantage over them, to back away if the person isn’t receptive to it And it is certainly just a small part of his personality.

Dylan considers himself to be demi-sexual which means he prefers emotional intimacy before physical intimacy. Gender is unimportant to him in any case.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths
Bold – He is full of life and energy. There is no greater joy for him than pushing boundaries and discovering and using new things and ideas.

Rational and Practical – He loves knowledge and philosophy, but not for their own sake. What’s fun for him is finding ideas that are actionable and drilling into the details so he can put them to use. If a discussion is completely arbitrary, there are better uses for his time.

Original – Combining his boldness and practicality, He loves to experiment with new ideas and solutions. He puts things together in ways no one else would think to.

Perceptive – This originality is helped by Dylan’s ability to notice when things change – and when they need to change! Small shifts in habits and appearances stick out to him, and he uses these observations to help create connections with others.

Direct – This perceptive skill isn’t used for mind games – He prefers to communicate clearly, with direct and factual questions and answers. Things are what they are.

Sociable – All these qualities pull together to make him a natural group leader. This isn’t something that he actively seeks – he just has a knack for making excellent use of social interactions and networking opportunities.

He has virtually no fear of heights. Leap from one third-story roof to another? No problem. Walk that tightrope across the chasm, just make sure the rope is secure.

Weakness
Impatient – He moves at his own pace to keep himself excited. Slowing down because someone else “doesn’t get it” or having to stay focused on a single detail for too long is extremely challenging for the rogue.

Risk-prone – This impatience can lead him to push into uncharted territory without thinking of the long-term consequences. He sometimes intentionally combats boredom with extra risk.

Unstructured – He sees an opportunity – to fix a problem, advance, have fun – and seize the moment, often ignoring rules and social expectations in the process. This may get things done, but it can create unexpected social fallout.

May Miss the Bigger Picture – Living in the moment can cause him to miss the forest for the trees. He loves to solve problems here and now, perhaps too much. All parts of a project can be perfect, but the project will still fail if those parts do not fit together.

Defiant – He won’t be boxed in. Repetition, hardline rules, sitting quietly while he is lectured at – this isn’t how he lives his life. He is action-oriented and hands-on. Entry-level work can be so tedious that it’s intolerable, requiring extraordinary effort from him to stay focused long enough to get to freer positions.

Heights may hold no fear for him, but tightly confined spaces, especially if he is alone, cause fear, and anxiety and if it’s really tight or he’s in that position for a while, it can cause him to panic.
Ambitions On a professional level, he is torn between becoming a doctor like his father would like him to do, or following in his mother's footsteps and going into Intelligence work.

Whichever of those options he chooses, they are something that will occur down the road.

Currently, he is happy being a nurse.

On a personal level, he would like to find Mr. or Mrs. Right someday, but he is in no hurry for that either.
Hobbies & Interests Dylan is into extreme sports, but he enjoys reading, preferably an actual book as opposed to a PADD. He loves cooking and prefers it to replicated ones. He also does bonsai as a wall to relax.

Dylan has more than a passing interest in criminology. It's an avocation for him though rather than a vocation. That being said, his mother taught him a lot and he did take some electives during his time at the Academy so if he ever does decide to switch careers, he will have a head start.

Personal History Dylan’s parents once hated each other or at least they found themselves on opposite sides more often than not. Jamie was a nurse and Ulanni was the head of the Intelligence Department onboard the USS Resistance Jamie was cool, collected, and was quiet, and unassuming. He only used force as a last resort and eschewed violence almost to the point of being a pacifist. He would rather talk his way out of a situation than fight his way out. Ulanni was no stranger to violence and would use it when she felt it was needed. Still, it wasn’t her first course of action. Her first course of action was seduction.

He had no interest in women romantically or physically, she had an interest in men, just not Jamie. They fought tooth and nail just about constantly, and one day after the captain had disappeared they argued to the point of coming to blows and the fight turned into something more.

Dylan was the result of that night of passion.

He took after his father, far more than his mother, he’s more introverted and quiet, with a nurturing attitude. He chose to go into nursing to be more hands-on with the patients. He did inherit his mother’s temper and her bedroom eyes.

Dylan was born on November 17, 2351, the oldest of three children.

His relationship with his parents and siblings isn't perfect, but it has always been good.

He did get into some minor problems growing up, but like his father, he could usually talk or charm his way out of them

Aside from mostly harmless pranks and a propensity to talk back and voice his opinion even when it's not asked for Dylan is a good level-headed young man.
